Advance Decisions (living wills) - Overview

An advance decision (formally known as a living will) informs medical staff about how you wish to be treated should you no longer be able to communicate your wishes to your medical team. With Dignity in Dying's pro-choice advance decisions you decide what happens if you are seriously ill with little chance of recovery. It makes sure it is not left to your next of kin to make life and death decisions on your behalf.

Our advance decision is pro-choice because it lets you take control - so you can either refuse treatment or consent to life-sustaining treatment.

Living wills are now officially known as advance decisions under the Mental Capacity Act. The Dignity in Dying advance decision is fully compliant with the Mental Capacity Act.
